On Tuesday May 3, 2016 at approximately 11:50am, Officer Hyson was on patrol along the 100 blk. E. King St. Off. Hyson spotted (2) males at a business close to the intersection of E. King and S. Lime St. Off. Hyson knew, from a previous memo, that one of the males, Joshua Torres-Gonzalez, was wanted by Manor Township Police Department. After initially stopping the males along E. King St., Torres-Gonzalez fled on foot from Off. Hyson. Torres-Gonzalez ran west on E. King St. then south on S. Duke St. and west on the 1st blk. E. Mifflin St. Responding Officers assisted Off. Hyson in apprehending Torres-Gonzalez on E. Mifflin St. Torres-Gonzalez was taken into custody.
A search of Torres-Gonzalez revealed that he had a Smith & Wesson .380 semi-automatic handgun in one of his pants pockets. A check of the serial number of the gun revealed that it had been reported stolen to West Lampeter Township Police Department on May 2, 2016. Torres-Gonzalez does not possess a permit to carry a firearm in concealed fashion.
As a result of this incident Off. Hyson is charging Torres-Gonzalez with (1) Count Receiving Stolen Property, (1) Count Firearms not to be Carried Without a License and (1) Count Possession Small Amount Marijuana. As of the time of this release, Torres-Gonzalez has not yet been araigned on the warrant from Manor Twp. as well as the new charges filed today.
This is the 26th gun related arrest made by members of the Lancaster City Bureau of Police in 2016.
All persons arrested are presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
