On Sunday 13 August 2017 at 2222 hrs. Off.Jason Hagy attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Tahoe on the 300 blk. S. Broad St. for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Miguel A. Pagan M/30 Reading PA, refused to stop and led Officers on a vehicle pursuit. A passenger in Pagan's vehicle managed to jump from the vehicle near the intersection of S. Broad and E. King St. That person was located and interviewed.
The pursuit went through Lancaster Township into East Lampeter Township. PSP Trooper Parham was able to succesfully deploy spike strips on the Tahoe in an effort to stop the pursuit. Pagan eventually pulled into a private parking lot on the 2200 blk. Lincoln Hwy. East where he was taken into custody. A second passenger was still inside the vehicle with Pagan when he stopped. A pipe with Marijuana residue was found inside the vehicle.
The passengers that had been in the vehicle were released from their respective locations.
Pagan showed signs of intoxication. He was transported to Troop J headquarters where a breath test was administered. The test showed that Pagan's BAC was 0.165%. As a result of this incident, Off. Jared Snader filed a Criminal Complaint against Pagan, charging him with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police (F3), DUI (M), Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked(M3), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2), Red Light Violation (S) 3 counts, Reckless Driving (S), Driving Vehicle as Safe Speeds (S), Possession Drug Paraphernalia (M), Operating Motor Vehicle Without Rear Lights (S) before MDJ 02-2-01.
All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
