On August 26, 2017 (Sat.) officers assigned to the police bureaus Selective Enforcement Unit (SEU), assisted by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division and the Patrol Divisions Platoon “C”, served a narcotics related search warrant at a residence on the 100 blk. Green St. During an approximate two week investigation officers learned Morant was selling narcotics from a home that is owned by his seventy-two year old mother. Morant was living in the home using a second floor bedroom.
Officers made contact with Morant at the address and explained the basis of the search warrant. Morant led officers to a stash of fifty-five bags of heroin in his bedroom. Morant was arrested and transported to the police station. Morant neglected to tell officers about the hundreds of wax paper sleeves used to package heroin, zip lock baggies used to package crack cocaine and approximately 4.8 grams of bulk heroin, also located in his bedroom.
Additional material used to package and manufacture crack cocaine was located in a separate room of the home as well as glass vials containing crack cocaine. Additionally, a small amount of synthetic marijuana was located in his room.
While Morant was in the sally port of the police station officers observed him making movements in the back of the police car. Morant was removed from the vehicle and a search of the seat yielded a clear plastic bag containing approximately 8.6 grams of crack cocaine.
Selective Enforcement Unit officers had arrested Morant on June 25th and charged him with Possession With Intent to Deliver Heroin following a vehicle stop. Morant was out on bail for that charge when officers arrested Morant on the recent criminal charges. Morant was transported to the police station for processing and then taken to the Lancaster County Prison for arraignment. He was later committed to LCP in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
