On Friday February 8, 2019 at approximately 2310 hrs. Off. Brandon McCormick stopped a vehicle on the 300 blk. Mill St. for a traffic violation.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Devon Lawton M/26 300 blk. S. Prince St. Lancaster, PA. Lawton was found to be in possession of a backpack that contained (84) bags of synthetic cannabinoids, commonly referred to as K2, packaged for sale. The total weight of the packages was 840 grams (1.8 pounds).
Lawton was taken into custody and transported to the Lancaster Bureau of Police station.
Off. McCormick consulted with the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office. A criminal complaint was filed before MDJ Witkonis, charging Lawton with Possession With Intent to Deliver (Synthetic Cannabinoids) (F) and Possession Drug Paraphernalia (M).
Lawton was later arraigned on the complaint and committed to LCP in lieu of $100,000 bail.
All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
