On Sunday June 16, 2019 at approximately 2136 hrs. Off. Ryan Work responded to a complaint of an assault that had occurred within the hour. The victim reported that he had been at Crystal Park, 525 First St., at approximately 2041 hrs. to repair a damaged sign advertising a neighborhood block party. The victim reported that he was attempting to find out who had damaged the sign when he was assaulted by an unknown male.
The victim reported that he had been knocked down from behind and then struck on his face/head by the assailant. The victim and his family later went to the hospital for evaluation and treatment after speaking to Police.
The case was then investigated by Lt. Richard Mendez. Lancaster Safety Coalition (LSC) had video of part of the assault. Through the viewing of that video and additional follow up investigation, the suspect was identified as a 16 year old juvenile from Lancaster City.
Lt. Mendez filed an allegation against the juvenile before Lancaster County Juvenile Probation. The allegation lists a charge of Simple Assault against the juvenile.
All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court or adjudicated delinquent.
