On Saturday 21 October 2017 at approximately 2213 hrs. Officers from Lancaster City Police Platoon B responded to a residence on the 100 blk. Ruby St. for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner had been alerted of the burglary by a home monitoring system and the victim subsequently called 911. The Platoon was assisted by additional Officers working a Street Operations Group detail as well as mutual aid provided by Officers from Manheim Twp.
Officers established a perimeter around the residence. Sgt. Stoltzfus was to the rear of the home and observed a light moving inside a 2nd floor room of the victim's home. Shortly thereafter, Offiers heard the sound of a window opened from an upper floor. Off. Aziza observed a suspect go into a window of an adjoing home from the victim residence.
Officers were able to access the residence that the suspect had entered while others mainatined the perimeter around the victim's home. With the assistance of Off. Bradley and K9 Wodan, the susect was located on the 3rd floor of the buidling.
Once the suspect was secured and in custody, Officers checked inside the victim's residence. No one else was found inside the victim's home. The suspect lives in the home next to the victim. The suspect was identified as Christopher Iddings M/30.
As a result of this incident, Det. Lt. Brad Shenk filed a criminal complaint against Iddings before MDJ Witkonis charging him with Burglary (F1) and Theft By Unlawful Taking (M3). Iddings was held for arraignment and committed to LCP in lieu of $20,000 bail.
All persosns accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
