On 4/23/19 at 0550 hrs. Officers from Lancaster Bureau of Police responded to the Turkey Hill store at 5 W. Clay St. for a report of a Robbery that had just occurred.
Store employees told Officers that an unknown W/F entered the store and approached the counter. The suspect told the employees to open the register drawer and demanded cash. The suspect held her hand behind her back and told employees that she had a gun. The employee opened the drawer and promptly shut it on the suspect's fingers. The suspect fled the store without any loot. The suspect was observed getting into a red vehicle and leaving the scene.
Off. Kaminski was able to locate and lift fingerprints that the suspect had made on a surface in the store. Those prints were lifted and submitted to analysis.
(2) similar robberies occurred at other Turkey Hill stores in Lancaster County on the same date. Detectives from East Lampeter Twp. Police Department developed Amanda Hanna-Polk as a suspect in the robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction. ELTPD located Hanna-Polk and took her into custody. Hanna-Polk was charged by ELTPD with Robbery and later committed to LCP in lieu of $75,000 bail.
The suspect fingerprints that had been lifted from the robbery at 5 W. Clay were compared to Hanna-Polk's and found to be a match. On 5/8/19 Det. Ginder filed a Criminal Complaint against Hanna-Polk charging her with Robbery. As of the time of this press release, Hanna-Polk had not been arraigned on that complaint.
All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
