
A rash of unemployment benefits fraud is occurring in the four municipalities served by the Ephrata Police Department. Since July 1, 2021, the department has received 45 reports of this type of fraud from residents, 14 of those reports were made on July 14, 2021.
Victims have discovered the fraud when they:
-Were notified by their employer of a claim being filed.

The Ephrata Police Department, in conjunction with CRIMEWATCH Technologies, Inc, is proud to introduce our “Local Lens” program. Local Lens invites individuals and businesses to contribute to the safety of their neighborhood by registering their security cameras with the Ephrata Police Department.
As a reminder, the parking lot of Ephrata Borough Hall / Ephrata Police Department is a Safe Trading Location, also known as a Meetup Spot, for buyers and sellers from online and mobile marketplaces to meet in person to complete transactions. This Safe Trading Location, intended to improve the security of in-person transactions, is a community location that is public, surveilled, well-lit and monitored by the police department.
The Ephrata Police Dept. is a PA MedReturn location The goal is to help fight prescription drug abuse, especially among children and teenagers who often resort to unused or expired medications. Residents may dispose of unused prescription medications by depositing them in the blue box located in the lobby of the Ephrata Police Station.
The box will accept: prescription and over-the-counter solid medications (tablets and capsules); and pet medications.
