Wrong Way Driver on US 222 North
Ephrata Police were able to stop a wrong way driver early Tuesday morning 3-27-18 at 12:39 a.m. after receiving numerous complaints of a vehicle traveling south bound in the north bound lanes of US 222.
County police dispatch initially received several reports at approximately 12:29 a.m. of the vehicle traveling south in the north bound lanes of US 222 just south of the Denver/Pa Turnpike exit. Ephrata Police spotted an small SUV south bound in the north lanes at the US 322 overpass with north bound vehicles dodging the SUV to avoid a collision. Police were able to stop the vehicle just south of the US 322 overpass, but when officers approached the vehicle, the elderly female driver fled from the officer again driving south in the north lanes. Police were able to slow the driver down and again stop her about 1/2 mile further south. The 79 year old driver from Philadelphia was suffering from a medical issue and was taken to the hospital by Ephrata Ambulance and Medic.
