On Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 at 1140 hours the Ephrata Police Dept. responded to Rt. 322 at Rt. 272 for a report of a crash involving a tractor-trailer where the load affixed to the bed of the trailer struck the under side of the overpass. The truck was owned by Xylem Dewatering Solution from Bridgeport, NJ and operated by Pete Rexach, 38, of Wenonah, NJ. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved. The load of equipment on the trailer became partly detached and fell partly off the trailer onto the roadway. This resulted in the road being closed partially and in both directions for a period of approximately one hour. The bridge sustained minor damage. A representative from PennDot checked the bridge and assessed the damage as superficial. The driver of the truck was cited with a violation related to the height of his load.
