On the evening of May 19, 2019 until the early morning hours of May 20, 2019, the Ephrata Police Department assisted other emergency services organizations in Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township and West Cocalico Township with storm damage related calls.  Police received over 70 storm related calls for service in a four-hour period.

The most significant damage occurred in the Kline Road area of West Cocalico Township where house roofs were destroyed, utility poles and wires were down, and trees were uprooted.  The fire department assisted with a propane tank exploding and a separate propane tank leak.  Four non-life-threatening injuries to residents were reported.  Kline Road, Steinmetz Road and Wollups Hill remain closed as of Monday morning.  West Cocalico Township Emergency Management officials are conducting damage assessments.

Damage in the Ephrata area consisted of trees down on buildings and roadways, lightning strikes to buildings and utility wires down.  The Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-to-Trail is closed in Ephrata Borough until Tuesday afternoon due to down trees.
