Ephrata Police have received multiple calls about the same location in West Cocalico Township Regarding a suspected neglect or mistreatment of a dog. We have been on scene to investigate. We have consulted with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, and have concluded that the conditions of the animal and its housing to be within the law.

Ephrata Police want to remind everyone to please take the time to safeguard your dogs, pets and animals from the cold winter time temperatures and weather conditions. Take steps to ensure their safety and health during these long winter months.

We posted as a reminder a summary sheet posted by the Pennsylvania Veterinary Med. Assoc. of recent (Aug 2017) PA Legislation outlining the updated Pennsylvania Laws concerning tethering of dogs as well as a fact sheet concerning other changes to animal laws. (Ref. Title 18; Sec. 5532 and 5536).
