Ephrata Police charged Trejean D. Strickland, 20, of Denver and Kristina L. Claiborne, 36, of Denver with False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities. On July 4, 2018, Strickland, while seeking treatment for a gun shot wound at Wellspan-Ephrata Hospital, reported to Ephrata Police that he was shot in the hand by a Hispanic male during a brief altercation near the Rail-to-Trail in Ephrata. Claiborne made a statement to police corroborating Strickland’s story. Both Strickland and Claiborne knew that the shooting actually occurred at a residence in East Cocalico Township, and both fabricated the story out of fear of getting in trouble for an unintentional discharge of a gun. Strickland and Claiborne are presumed innocent and will receive summons to appear in court for the misdemeanor level charge.
