Ephrata Police arrested Mackenzie Viera, F/21, and Conner Verhagen, M/22, both of Manor St., Lancaster City on Thursday morning following the theft of puppies from a residence in the 600 Block of Wollups Hill Road, Denver (West Cocalico Township).
On November 28, 2019 at 1:40 a.m., Ephrata Police were called by the puppy owner, who awoke to find a suspicious vehicle and two people on the property. The puppy owner determined the suspicious people were taking puppies from his building. The owner was able to obtained descriptions of the suspects and vehicle which he provided to Ephrata Police. Ephrata Poilce, after a short investigation, determined the suspects lived in the 600 block of Manor Street, Lancaster City. With the assistance of Lancaster City Police the suspects were located at the Manor Street, Lancaster address. The suspects admitted to taking the puppies. Police rescued the six (6) puppies and the mother from the suspects’ residence. The puppies and mother, were returned to the victim. Estimated value of the French Bulldog puppies and mother is $12,000.00.
Ephrata Police charged Mackenzie Viera with Felony offenses of Burglary, Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft. Conner Verhagen was charged with Felony Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft. Both were taken to Lancaster County Central Arraignment at approximately 8:00am on the charges.
Both suspects are presumed innocent.
