On Sept. 9, 2017, the Ephrata Police arrested George Briggs, 50, of Adamstown, after he was found in violation of a Protection From Abuse order which had been served on him less than two hours previously. Police served Briggs with the PFA on Sept. 8, 2017 at approximately 10:15pm, which prohibited him from being at a specific location in Adamstown. On Sept. 9, 2017 at approximately 12:15 AM, Briggs was found at the location he was prohibited from being at. He was arrested and charged with one count of Indirect Criminal Contempt. He was arraigned before MDJ Benner later that morning and release on unsecured bail at approximately 7:45 AM.
