Bridge Work

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that on Thursday, April 4, weather permitting, crews will activate the temporary traffic signals that were installed near the bridge that carries Mt Sidney Road over the Amtrak rail lines between the villages of Witmer and Smoketown in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County.

PennDOT advises motorists that they may encounter periodic daylight short-term single-lane restrictions with flaggers alternating traffic through the work zone as crews conduct other preparatory work prior to setting barrier and activating the temporary traffic signals. Once barrier is set in place and the roadway is restricted to a single lane across the bridge, these signals will assist in alternating traffic through the work zone as crews conduct repairs to the existing bridge. Work under this construction contract is scheduled to be completed in August 2019.
