BODY WORN CAMERAS NOW IN USE BY EAST LAMPETER TWP POLICE DEPARTMENT
Effective November 1, 2021, East Lampeter Township Police Department officers will begin wearing body-worn cameras while on duty. The body worn cameras are manufactured by WatchGuard which operate in conjunction with the in-car cameras that have been used by East Lampeter Township Police Department since 2016.
The East Lampeter Township Police Department is committed to a partnership with the community and deploying body-worn cameras is another way to increase transparency and continue to build trust. The entire department has received training on the body-worn cameras and associated policy.
Funding to purchase the body-worn cameras was made possible through a Department of Justice Assest Seizure Program.
The public can expect body-worn cameras are recording interactions when officers are in the performance of their official duties.
