UPDATE: In addition to the previously filed charges against Justin Freshwater, on Friday, January 17, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office approved two criminal charges against the 17-year-old juvenile male who was also detained in relation to the shooting incident. The juvenile male was charged with Firearms not to be carried without a license (Felony 3) and Possession of a firearm by a minor (Misdemeanor 1). The juvenile male was taken to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center pending a detention hearing. Columbia Police responded to the 100 block of S. 4th St. for a shooting at 4:31pm on 1-15-2024. An 18 year old male suffered gunshot wounds and is currently in stable condition. Columbia Police arrested Justin Freshwater (18) and detained a juvenile male near the scene. Freshwater is being charged with Aggravated Assault and Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License. All of the participants have been identified and there is no immediate threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed it or has relevant information is encouraged to call CBPD or leave a tip through Crimewatch.
