On 5/25/19 at approximately 11:24 pm, while on routine patrol, an officer of the Columbia Borough Police Department ran a license plate number for a red Dodge Durango which was in front of her vehicle. The search result came back that the vehicle registration was suspended for no insurance. The officer pulled the vehicle over and the occupant, James Steele Cromer stated that he had just changed insurance companies. The Officer verified the new insurance but was notified by Countywide Communications that there was an outstanding traffic warrant through York County for Cromer. Cromer was placed under arrest and transported to the Columbia Borough Police Department. Cromer did pay the warrant when a York County Constable arrived and was later released. Steele is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
