On October 7, 2020 at 21:12 hours, Christiana Borough Police observed a vehicle make a stop sign violation at Main Street and Valley Avenue in Atglen Borough.
A traffic stop was made on the vehicle in the 5100 block of Upper Valley Road, West Sadsbury Township.
While police approached the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was present. The male operator was identified as Donte CREWS. After police found that CREWS had a suspended license and multiple warrants for his arrest, a backup unit from Christiana was requested.
When the backup unit arrived, the officers requested CREWS to step out of the vehicle. CREWS was placed into custody and informed that he has open warrants for his arrest. Before CREWS was searched and placed into a police vehicle, he requested that officers adjust the handcuffs because they were too tight. As officers adjusted the handcuff on his left wrist, CREWS began to resist and shoved his body into an officer and ripped the right wrist handcuff from officers. CREWS began to run west on Upper Valley Road with the handcuff still attached to his right wrist as officers began to chase on foot.
One officer attempted to use their taser against CREWS but had negative results. The secondary officer caught up to CREWS in the area of Upper Valley Road and Swan Road and ordered him onto the ground and placed him back into handcuffs.
Police found multiple types of drugs on CREWS person.
CREWS was handed over to the Lancaster County Sheriffs Office for the open warrants. The listed charges were filed against CREWS.
There is an open arrest warrant for CREWS.
